The Will of Wisteria by Denise Hildreth
General Age I Would Recommend It Too: 14+
I hope you are all enjoying your summer! During and before the summer months one of the main themes/topics I’ve found in the book community is Beach reads or Summer Reads. I have decided that this book is a perfect Summer Read. This book is an extremely readable, interesting contemporary, everything I search for when I’m looking for a book to read by the beach or pool!
Summary: The four Willcott children are incredibly entitled, they were raised on their family’s huge plantation estate with every need fulfilled and grow into adulthood with the comfort of huge trust funds. Jeffery the oldest, is completely consumed with his plastic surgery company and barely cares for the children he has from three different wives. Elizabeth is totally career driven and closes herself off to everyone and everything. Mary Catherine, travels the world with her new husband living off her trust fund, and Will is in his sixth year of college, doing nothing but partying. When their father dies he gives each of the children a huge inheritance, but with one stipulation. They each for one year, must give up their self centered lives and find a place to do pro bono work. After that year, they then can collect their inheritance, but only if they follow through with the agreement. As they all walk through the year, following their fathers wishes, they begin to open their eyes to the things around them. From the needs of each other, to the joys of loving other people.
Review: This book is definitely a page turner. There is no main character, you follow the story of all four of the children, and each of their stories are vastly different. The story really pulls you in and makes you want to see what happens to each character. The book has a little bit of everything. It had a solid plot, a unique cast of characters, and good engaging writing, with a dash of suspense, drama and a sprinkle of romance. I read this book in just a few days, I would recommend it to everyone!
